Accelerating ESG and SDG Practices in Mining Companies & Territories

On April 28, 2022, the group Visions to SDGs in Mining Territories hosted a webinar. Extractive industries are critical drivers of many economies, but often place a great burden on environmental systems, or affect societies in areas of extraction. The group looks at how mining companies and other stakeholders in the territories in which they operate can achieve ESG (environment, social, and governance) objectives and support local people in achieving the SDGs. This event specifically explored questions such as what role can the mining sector play in SDG achievement; how can industry standards be strengthened, promoted, and enforced; and what are some case studies and innovative ways companies are supporting SDG achievement.
